Jason Young beautifully summarized the opportunity cost and what it would mean if Propositions A & B fail to pass in a recent Facebook post. We wanted to include that here for everyone to see. The post has been included exactly as he wrote it.

Please understand these facts on the use of EDC Funds should “vote no” prevail:
# of new Police Officers hired - ZERO
# of new Fire Fighters hired - ZERO
# of potholes repaired - ZERO
# of new roads constructed - ZERO
% of traffic reduced - ZERO
How do I know? Because the 1% of SALES TAX that funds the EDC and CDC does NOT pay for those budgets directly.
EDC Funds are designed to create jobs and future sales tax. They invest the .5% to generate more sales tax dollars.
The portion of the sales tax collected by the City DOES pay for those types of things.
The beauty of the Frisco Center For The Arts Deal is it accomplishes job creation, incremental sales tax generation, revenue for existing small businesses all over the city (who doesn’t want a new outfit for the show or to grav a meal), drives tourism which is outside folks investing in the community…
AND
We get the educational, career vocational, entertainment, cultural and community Arts benefits thrown in for generations to come.
The City will the have more funds to Hire more public safety and deal with the other issues, paid for in part by Voting Yes!
This deal is truly too good to be true - and it is that good. More than a decade in the making, zero rushing.
Do not let it slip.
